I know how terribly annoyed you are by the ads on the sides, on the top, on the bottom, in and out of the topics, ads before you open a topic, ads after you open a topic, ads ads ads ads ads! aaah! they're everywhere!

While it's truly annoying its the only way we're keeping this forum - you see, we pay nothing to keep this forum online.

The one who pays is our overly generous hosting company who has provided us with a large disk space and our choice of forum and modifications and ofcourse reliable databases and good support, now we come to a different question.

How do they pay for all the websites?

Let me tell you a story about a guy wanting to start an internet hosting business.

One day, a man wanted to start a hosting business, so he buys a few servers (servers=mainframe computers) and connects them to the internet and starts advertising his business!

The next day, a confused person wanting to make a cool website for himself or his community is searching for a host, by all miracles on the world he stumbles upon the man who just started his business!

The host sets a monthly payment, say about 10 dollars a month for the client to put his website online and make it accessible by everyone, the client pays every month to keep his website up and life goes on!

However, this isn't our current situation!

The man who started the business didn't really set a monthly payment, instead he offered various companies to place their ADs on his client's websites inexhange for money to the host, and a free website for the client.(with the unpleasant con of having ads all over his personal space)

Hosting a website eats some resources, and inorder to keep these resources you need money. The companies who make those ads give money to the host so the host can give us a free website to work with.

A little sidenote is that the host wouldn't really care about what do these ads really advertise for, it can be virtually for anything as long as it brings it big cash into the host's pocket.
